This is a rare opportunity to see the internationally renowned, multi-award-winning pianist, Varvara Tarasova, as she returns to perform in the intimate environs of the 1901 Arts Club salon. Her entirely different repertoire will include Shchubert, Liszt and Prokofiev. 

 

This recital presents a rich contrast between 19th-century European Romanticism and early 20th-century Russian Modernism. 

The first half features lyrical intimacy and virtuosic flair through Schubert's sunlit A-major Sonata, his expressive B-flat major Impromptu, and Liszt’s sparkling transformations of Schubert and his own concert étude.

The second half shifts to Prokofiev's sharp, rhythmic edge, balancing the fleeting, enigmatic miniatures of Visions fugitives with the muscular energy and dramatic drive of his Piano Sonata No.2.
